"Well, I had intended for you not to die ignorant, but such is life." - Wu Tung, 1987

Wuxia

Some of the most persistent enemies of the Boston Revolution, they are a group of six Americans of Chinese descent; their bizarre and possibly unique powers are the result of an early Revolution case. In early 1987 the Revolution fought the criminal mastermind Lord Fimbulwinter several times, finally confronting him on his private island in the Boston harbor and unleashing a hideous explosion of exotic radiation.
The island closest to the explosion was being used by the Tong gangs in Chinatown as a storage facility before bringing smuggled goods into Boston. There were six agents of the Tong there; four were there for a pickup, the other two being the island's guard and his moll. The energy wave severely damaged the base, destroyed the smuggled materials and changed the Tong members. Unsure of the level of their new abilities, they lay low, knowing that they would be blamed for the destruction of the cargo. When the Revolution shattered the Mafia in Boston, the members came to a resolution: now that the Tong were freed from outside control by the Mob, someone would have to take control. The time was right for them, people with knowledge, power, and the will to assume command. Taking the name Wuxia, the Hong Kong movie term for "flying people," they began their consolidation of the Boston Tongs. While the Revolution has blocked and set them back, they continue.
Wuxia's abilities are rather peculiar. On the surface, they seem to be just another group of variants with various energy powers, but the truth is more intriguing: the six are bound together by energy wormholes through Twilight space. The women of the group both have powers that involve the absorption and apparent negation of various energies, while the men have energy projection powers. In reality the women's absorptions empower the men's abilities. While not telepathic, the Wuxia are very empathic towards one another, and always know each others' relative positions and states of health. What would happen to the group should one of the members die is unknown.

Liang Hsiang
A former Chinese prostitute, she now has the ability to absorb any form of radiant energy — with a thought she can create zones of cold and darkness, and she is immune to most energy. She is the least confident of the Wuxia, and the most prone to taking orders.

Chang Yen
A photo-negative of Liang Hsiang, Chang was a tough as nails Tong enforcer and hitter who has gained the ability to absorb intangible energy — bio energy, mental energy, awareness, and the like. As a result, she is all but invisible, as people's perceptions slide right over her, an effect she uses quite well in combat.

Yeh Cha
A Tong hitter and enforcer, he gained vast biological energy from the wormhole link, making him much stronger and tougher than he was before. The most physically dangerous of Wuxia, he is also the most prone to jockey for position, exacerbating the power struggles between Yen and Wu Tung

Yen Chu-Hsia
An expert in Chinese antiquities and a dabbler in oriental mysticism, he gained light emission powers from the wormhole link. Yen is one of the two members of Wuxia struggling for control, and feels that they should use their powers to pursue even greater ability through the manipulation of Chinese occult energies. Of the members of Wuxia, he is the most adept at using his abilities.

Wu Tung
A Tong lieutenant on his way up through the power structure, Tung gained the ability to project mental energy from the wormhole link, from crude psionic attacks to mental domination. An excellent planner and well versed in the Chinese underworld, Wu Tung is the team's current leader, and it is his dreams they currently follow.

Wu Tzu-Shi
Another Tong heavy, he was Wu Tung's bodyguard and personal enforcer before the incident, and remains in that position today. Tzu-Shi has the ability to direct energy, usually heat or light, directly into objects in his line of sight, either for true pyrokinesis or electrokinesis. Those objects usually explode.
