Sophomore Year Summer Break

31. In the Land of the Dragons (Barmitzvah of Fire) (5-7/89)
Dan and Jay travel to the Black Dragon Monastery in China for the summer, There, Dan's variant empathic/telekinetic powers emerge and he takes the mantle of Skywalker. Jay undergoes intense training, and the two of them fight off an attack from the Claws of the Dragon, who were breaking into the monastery to steal Dragonhand's Amulet and complete the claw (the other members hold the remaining 4 amulets). At the end of the summer Dan heads for home and Jason decides to stay at the monastery for the near future.

32. Voyage of Discovery (5-7/89)
Talon heads off alone to Antarctica to test what she has learned about her self and strain the limits of her hybrid form. There's a lot of philosophical meandering and questions about who she is and what her heritage means, but no action.

33. Dead Man's Hand (7/89)
While skydiving, Gypsy is attacked by Dead Man's Hand, armored members of the White America movement, who wish doom and destruction upon her for defiling Genocide's memory with her campaign to have his body destroyed. She plays hit and run with them for a while until Arclight and Shriekback can arrive, then the three of them trash the crap out of DMH. The neo-nazis are taken into custody.
