Miscellaneous British Vigilanted

While Danger Asante and his legacy are the best known of the costumed adventurers of England, they are far from the only ones who fight the good fight. In addition to their public heroes, the British Isles have a long tradition of vigilantes (which some would stretch back to Robin of Locksley), some of whom have been downright bloody in their pursuit of justice. As a rule, the vigilantes of England receive less assistance from the law than their American counterparts, leading them to be a secretive and insular bunch. As such, the information on them is sketchy at best, and impossible to corroborate.

Stormwolf
A creature of unknowable power, unkillable and unstoppable, Stormwolf cut a bloody swath across the London underworld from 1922-1930. While this is far from common knowledge, he was a faerie-blood werewolf, able to take the form of any canine or lupine, possessed of a half-man/half wolf form, invulnerable to everything except Cold Iron, with the strength of 20 men, filled with animal cunning and prone to fits of bloodlust. He targeted the criminal community in his attacks, with brutal efficiency that suited his animalistic demeanor.
Something happened in 1930 that gave Stormwolf greater control of his animal urges; still a violent vigilante obsessed with taking down organized crime, he also began defending people from faerie or other supernatural menaces. While he never joined the Danger Squad in the spotlight, this change made him more acceptable to the authorities, especially since he changed his focus to the European invaders and their allies. Stormwolf's identity was never learned, and he retired/vanished in 1946. According to knowledgeable mystics, he had spent the war years and after defending England from both saboteurs and the repercussions of WWII in the mystical realms, which slipped out as foul beasts from time to time.

Nocturne I
A dual citizen of the US and UK, Sam Night served as a US marine in the Korean conflict. In 1953 he was deafened by an explosion. Determined to get his hearing back, he moved to London and constructed devices that not only returned his hearing but increased it, along with goggles that let him to see in the ultraviolet and infrared. Determined to use these new devices in the cause of justice, he took them with his military training to the streets in a war against the London mobs. A man of action and of science, he could both out-fight and out-think his opponents. Unlike many other inventing heroes, Night used his inventions as the basis for his business, providing advanced hearing replacement and communications technology for civilian and military use. He was active from 1965-1977, retiring from the variant game to focus on his company (NightCom) and marry Dawn Rider, his sweetheart for many years. He died of a sudden and unexpected case of cancer cancer in 1981, and is survived by his wife and two sons. Nocturne's true identity was made public shortly after his death, and in 1982 NightCom became a subsidiary of Taurus Industries.

Hawthorn & Ash
Hawthorn is a natural variant. Her abilities manifested when a Liannen-sidhe attacked her after slaying her husband and infant son. According to her accounts, it had saved her for last, when her tears called down the rain and her screams brought the thunder. Lauren Hawthorn recovered physically but not mentally, and has dedicated her life to the destruction of faeries and other magic wielders. She is indiscriminate in her vengeance; any taint is sufficient cause for cleansing. Sometimes she appears to be on the side of the angels, defending innocents from the foulest spawn of the Twilight Realms or battling Coven mystics. At others, she is slaughtering people for having the slightest trace of Fey blood or for practicing minor witchcraft. Her beauty has turned harsh and cold, and her eyes are chips of calculating ice.
Somewhere along the way, Hawthorn made the acquaintance of Ash Narayama, a huge Indian man who was reportedly trained by the Thuggee, or at least by the British military. Ash had been travelling the world hunting and killing Fey creatures for profit, providing trophies for collectors and parts for sorcerers. Betrayed by the Coven after one deal, he was rescued by Hawthorn and has pledged his life to her cause. Silent but perceptive, large but quiet, Ash watches her back and handles the small problems, while Hawthorn's weather control abilities are applied to the greater threats.

Journeyman
Legends are all that exist of this figure, and legends on paper at that. No one remembers meeting him, seeing him or speaking to him. Diaries and journal entries make mention of him, but never his features, background or accent. He is a near-total cipher. From accounts, we can assume he is a telepath of some skill, and perhaps can shift dimensions. What actions we can ascribe to him seem strange and contradictory, working for both good and evil, the angels and the devils. Journeyman was essential to the imprisoning of Greer in 1978, but he was also responsible for the deaths of dozens when he sabotaged a cruise liner off the coast of London. He has never been charged, because no one believes he exists....
