Powers Description (30 facets base)
Extremely Strong Aura (training) Lazarus has an extremely strong and pure personal aura. This is due to his nature as a reincarnated spirit (in one of his past lives he was Vanis, one of the heroes of Shandamir, and he has theories that several members of the Host are also such spirits), his early training by Luther Kensington, and possibly ties to Faerie blood. Lazarus aura makes him a natural (if ill trained) spellcaster, and gives other benefits, listed below.
  • Musical Experience: Being the reincarnation of one of the great musicians of myth, Lazarus has strong natural inclinations in that direction. As such, he has +15 years to his effective age for buying music-related careers and hobbies, and he has a +4 on all rolls related to music. This extends to any of his spellcasting rituals, if he can integrate the ritual into a musical format.
  • Spiritual Strength: Given the strength of his soul and aura, Lazarus has a +12 on both his Willpower and Presence scores. He is as strong willed and charismatic as a human being can become without magical or variant enhancement. He can shrug off low-end mind control or telepathy with minimal effort, his memory is excellent, and with meditation (and a successful Yoga roll on d40) he can effectively shut down or mask his bio-aura or thought patterns. By focusing his aura entirely on a single target, he can make a mind control attack (resisted with a 1d20) issuing brief commands to the target, whose body will simply obey. This costs 1 fatigue to use, and +1 fatigue for each new command issued once control is established.
  • Spiritual Purity: Lazarus has an aura and soul of such power that it is immediately noticed, and affects the world around him. People who are have pure or uncorrupted auras will take to him immediately, and those who are darker will feel uneasy in his presence. People who can sense auras will feel his presence automatically unless he actively masks it (see above, but the modifications in his aura caused by the powersuit prevent using that as a means of connecting Lazarus and Apollyon). This also gives him a -4 to be hit by black magic, aura or chakra effects, and a 1 die code on saves against black magic effects making him almost impossible for common spellcasters to harm him with dark magic.
  • Spellcasting: Lazarus knows some minor Christian spells. Each takes 1 minute to initiate and costs fatigue based on their effects.
    • Tongue of Babel: His most powerful spell. When active, Lazarus can understand any terrestrial language (spoken or written), and can immediately identify any spoken untruth (be it a full lie or a shading of the truth). When using this, Lazarus is speaking the primal tongue of the human spirit, which holds no room for lies or misdirection—as such he cannot use them himself. This spell costs 1 fatigue per five minutes active.
    • Ritual Magic: Lazarus knows a variety of other minor Christian rituals, each of which having a minor effect on the world. As a benchmark, they are less powerful than the Tongue of Babel spell. Each costs one fatigue per minute of use, making them short term at best. Lazarus can craft three of these per day, selecting the one he needs when he requires it. Examples of this include the Jericho Chant (opens basic locks), Reaping the Past (feel magical effects in area from last 6 hours per minute maintained) and Divine Awareness (opens mind to current spiritual world).
Vibrational Phase Control Device Apollyon's armor controls atomic and molecular vibration, giving him a range of powers. While the suit can sense things out to 180 feet, it cannot affect the world outside the wearer's bio-aura (5' in Lazarus' case).
  • Vibrational Aura: The suit can alter the vibrational constants of the objects in its immediate vicinity. Apollyon can use to shatter or deflect incoming attack—setting up this field takes one action, giving Apollyon a Vibration defense. He can also direct this against objects within his aura on the molecular or atomic level. This attack does 2d12 damage, and can attack as either Disintegration (which obliterates matter) or Vibration (which knocks back or shatters the target). This attack is quite versatile—with a special attack he can ignore an opponent's technological defense (such as armor or invulnerability devices), and he can attack solid objects with a 90% chance of shattering them in lieu of damage.
  • Vibrational Pattern Sensing: Apollyon can sense the vibrational patterns in his vicinity. This sense is as useful as sight, and can sense through solid matter within its range—Apollyon is aware of the wall, the contents of the wall, and the materials on the other side of the wall, for example. This sense requires the presence of matter to function, so it doesn't work in a vacuum. The Armor's sensitivity to vibration triples Apollyon's hearing, and lets him see ultra or infrasonic effects. It also adds +4 to the attack base of the armor's Vibrational Aura attacks.
  • Vibrational Phasing: Perhaps the armor's most impressive power, Apollyon can match his body's own vibrations with the vibrations of the matter around him, allowing him to pass through solid objects. It takes 1 action to start Partial Non-Corporeality defense. Once active Apollyon can pass through matter unimpeded. While even partially in solids or liquids he can use "push off" from this matter, increasing his ground movement rate to 900 MPH (or 1800 if pressed to the limits). This phasing also accelerates his reactions in any matter, where rather than being slowed by air resistance he pushes off it to increase his speed and reflexes by 12 points.
  • Host Communications Systems: The Apollyon armor is the central Host armor, befitting Apollyon's position as Archangel field leader. Its tight band communication can transmit through almost any depth of matter, including deep water or earth (but not high deposits of metal ores). It has sensory links to the other Host armors—Apollyon can see through their eyes, access diagnostics, and if need be override their systems. Note: the ENOCH bodies are not included in this link.
Careers & Hobbies (55 years base)
  • Dilettante Occultist (20 years Focused Career, 12+bonuses): Lazarus was initiated into the occult at a young age, and although he has never pursued it with tenacity, he has dabbled for his entire life. He has contacts in the mystical community across the globe, and knows the basics of most occult and religious systems, and mixes and matches spellcasting elements from each.
  • Herbalism (3 years Focused Hobby added to Dilettante Occultist, 16+ bonuses): Lazarus knows the medicinal and recreational uses of most herbs, as well as their religious and mystical significance. And he has never, ever used this for illegal purposes. Nope. Never. How can you doubt the word of a 70s rock star on this?
  • Yoga (3 years Focused Hobby added to Dilettante Occultist, 16+ bonuses): Lazarus is highly skilled with the practices of Yoga and Tantric bodily control. By making checks against his Yoga hobby, he can hold his breath for extended periods, contort his body and perform other impressive and apparently painful—but not superhuman—techniques.20
  • Rock Star (20 years Focused Career, 12+ bonuses): Lazarus has been a touring rock star for decades, and is well versed with both the craft and the image of his chosen career. He plays several instruments, has contacts in the music and publicity fields, and is an internationally recognized super-star. He's a musician and a songwriter, and is constantly cutting the musical edge. His musical experience bonuses apply to appropriate uses of this career.
  • Singing (6 years Broad Hobby added to Rock Star, 16+ bonuses): Lazarus has a wonderful singing voice, is operatically trained and knows how to set the mood of a piece by his music. He is equally versed with opera, rock, religious and folk music, and is considered one of the finest voices of the day. His Musical Experience bonus always applies to this hobby.
  • Strategic Games (3 years Focused Hobby, 8+ bonuses): Lazarus was taught chess at the age of eight, and has a certain degree of skill at it. Hes also versed with Go, and makes a habit of becoming familiar with other games where strategy plays the deciding role. Hes not champion level at any of them, since its not a field where his breadth of expertise is an advantage against those with focused training.
Weakness: Power Handicap Other than sensory purposes, the Vibrational Phase Powers can't extend beyond the range of its wearer's aura. For normal people this would be a few inches, but for Lazarus this extends 5 feet from his body.
