The phones were ringing constantly. Wu Tung sent out a steady string of orders in response.
"I know that this is due to treachery on your part!" he snarled at Yen in a rare moment of respite.
"Oh yes, treachery on my part," he sighed. "Drawing them down against us, in order for them to destroy us."
"They have to be as badly beaten as we are, we had nearly killed them before!"
"Judging from the reports that are coming in, they sound like they're in tip-top shape."
Wu hesitated. "Maybe it wasn't really them, you said that there were other ones...."
Yen shrugged. "I don't know what I saw. What I saw was another group of Revolution members, and I decided it was time for us to leave."
    "Well, I—"
"You mean you're not going to tell me we should have pressed our advantage and destroyed the other ones, too?" Yen's eyes glittered. "Hm?"
"You try my patience," Wu Tung hissed.
"Would you just stop?" his rival snapped. "Admit it, as a leader you failed! You came out, I handed you all of Chinatown. You destroyed it! And you! You followed him!" he turned to the others. "He can't mind-control us, why do you listen to him?!"
They seemed to be thinking about it.
"I still believe in you, master," Wu Tzu-Shi spoke up.
"I believe my point has been proven," Yen retorted; Wu was less than bright. "Don't even," he added as the target of his barb turned to glare at him. "I'll just stand here, and you'll kill me, and then what will happen? They're getting closer by the minute. They're going to come in through that door any second now, and all of us will be wiped away. They're that angry."
"Then what do you recommend, Yen Chu-Hsia?" Wu Tung asked softly.
"See, I had a plan." He shook his head sadly. "It involved us staying hidden. Or just out-and-out attacking them originally, by surprise, and killing all of them, which I was admittedly reluctant to do."
"Ha! Because you are weak," Wu Tung sneered.
"No, because it would have summoned more! As powerful as we are, we do not have the forces to stand against all of the law enforcement in this country! And that's what will happen if we kill them. Bit by bit, drib by drab, we will be worn away."
"So what are you going to do?"
"I," he took a step back, "am going," another step, "to leave you to your fate." He smiled faintly, stepped through the wall and was gone.
