"What happened, I thought the cops got you?"
"They did, they held me for a day, man. You know the worst part about it?" the Cat went on in a hushed voice.
"What?"
"It was the Revolution that caught me, man. We were out, they jumped usthey can get past the boss!"
"Man, that's not good. And this is just after he...."
"Yeah, I know," he nodded. "Anyway, I've got this letter," he showed his pal the paper. "Phoenix Talon's calling him out!"
"Phoenix Talon's calling him out?" he repeated, wide-eyed. "That's like a cross between sucking, and being so cool. We gotta go tell people!"
They made it back to headquarters and were stopped at the door.
"We gotta talk to the boss!"
The doorwatch sighed and asked in a bored sing-song,"Why do you have to talk to the boss?"
"'Causethey just let me out of jail and Phoenix Talon's calling him out!"
"Phoenix is callin ghim out?" He paused thoughtfully, nodded. "Yeah, you go in and tell the boss that."
"I can?"
"Yeah, you go ahead, he wants to talk to you," he smiled and waved them in. He'd stay out where it was safe.
Tybalt lounged, bracketed by the usual lovelies. He nodded at his minion. "Hey. I see you're outta jail."
"Yeah. Um, it wasn't the cops, it was the Revolution that grabbed me. They were in plain clothes, and Needle threw a rock at the cat," he summarized quickly.
"Did she," he said expressionlessly. Almost expressionlessly; the very perceptive might have detected a flicker of fear as he recalled a recent conversation. "And what's that you have there?"
"A message that I'm supposed to give to you."
"Let me see it." He took the paper, read it. "All right. I'm assuming that you've kept this to yourself and haven't read it?"
"Um... um...."
"Don't even bother lying. For those of you who don't already know," he announced sardonically to the loitering courtiers, "my plan is working. We will have an opportunity to remove the Blood Boards once and for all! Crush them underneath our heel! They're handing it to us on a silver platter. Phoenix wants to meet us, out in the Blue Hills, mano a mano, me and him." His feral gaze swept the room. "I told you this day would come, and I told you what our response would be. Let the Days of Fire begin!"
