Where Danger is Traditional...

Danger Squad II

With the death of both Stormchild and Miss Twilight in 1980, the last member of the Danger Squad legacy felt it was time for her to act. Ending years of seclusion, study and medidation, Lynn Jones, AKA Balance, moved to recruit a new Danger Squad to take up the cause of her brother, Stormchild. Forming a four-member team, Balance and the new Danger Squad quickly developed an extensive rogues gallery, both of new enemies and those of Stormchild. In addition, they deal with natural disasters, non-variant crime, civil unrest and occasional rampages by Quiet Giant, a member of the Flower Children and Jayhan's father, now driven to bouts of aggressive madness by his powers.
The New Danger Squad's most pernicious foes are a group called Whirlwind; constructed entirely of legacy villains, Whirlwind wants nothing less than the utter destruction of the Danger Squad and its legacy. The two groups have clashed several times, and a final conflict of one sort or another is no doubt brewing.
The Danger Squad has loose ties with the British government and Scotland Yard, aided by Balance's position as part of one of England's premier adventuring families. They receive no direct funding, however, and have no official clearance. The press generally likes them, though the Mirror is constantly trying to dig up scandals on the group. Their relations with the public are also generally positive, but are strained each time Jayhan's father goes berserk. They have worked with London's other great adventuring family, The Greystokes (and Lady Samantha's American husband, Francis Bouie) on at least one occasion, which was much heralded by the press in London and across the pond. They have no ties with, nor love of MI 13, which Synapse perceives as a Fascist organization.

Balance
Balance is the daughter of original Danger Squad members Dr. Templar and Miss Twilight, and the sister of Stormchild. She took her name as an indicator of the synthesis she tried to make between her mother and father's philosophies. She is a doctor and scientist, spiritualist and pragmatist. Balance is a highly talented martial artist, a medical doctor and Ph.D. in physics. Her spiritual training has given her intense will and a strong Chi, which she can use in ways that the unenlightened would call magic, shattering brick walls with a kick or dominating the minds of the weak-willed with speech. She can ignore pain and has the skills of an accomplished thief. While this cross-training may have kept her from reaching extreme mastery in either science or the spiritual, her dual heritage makes her a canny and dangerous opponent. She is the team's undisputed leader.

Jayhan
Jayhan is the daughter of the 1960s adventurer Quiet Giant, and has inherited her father's cosmic powers, but not his stature. She also lacks his drug problem, and therefore has a much higher control of her powers. She is permanently as one with the universe. Physically, this greatly improves her intellect, endurance and will, the last to far outside human range. Aside from the physical enhancement, Jayhan can enter a state of full harmony with the universe. Physically, this makes her intangible, a state she can extend to others. Mentally, it allows her to vastly expand her perceptions, seeing the past and future or distant places, to gain the knowledge she seeks. She can extend this to others was well, but the overwhelming nature of the sensation renders living beings unconscious. Jayhan is the only child of any of the Flower Children, and is protective of their reputation. She dearly loves her father, but his unpredictable powers force her to keep a close watch on him.

Nocturne II
Deacon Gould was a street vendor who was attacked by a fey vampire. Unknown to both, Deacon was a potential variant, and the attack activated and shaped his abilities. Deacon believed he was a vampire for many years, until he met his creator again. In truth Deacon is a shape-shifter with great potential. He is able to grow claws and fangs, shape his features into a vampire's classic good looks or horrific visage, release pheromones to enhance either effect, diffuse his weight and grow patagium for gliding, and regenerate from most wounds 10 times faster than normal men. Permanent modification has increased his agility and senses, giving him cat-like vision. While he also possesses magical bio-aura powers, he later discovered that they were tied with his vampiric creator, and has sworn off using them for fear of raising that fiend from his current ashen state. He greatly fears this occurance....

Synapse
Synapse gained his psionic abilities as a guinea pig for The Cabinet, which he believes is part of the government MI13 ESPer program. When he joined the Squad he was on the run from the Cabinet, but they haven't been seen in many years. Synapse is a telepath/teleporter with potent psychokinetic abilities. He can read surface thoughts but is easily blocked by will or pain. His teleportation powers let him jaunt over 200 miles in an instant without disorientation, but this is a significant system drain. Psychokinetically, he can protect himself or others with a powerful force shield, and project beams of force at targets for massive damage. Synapse is the team's rebel and malcontent He claims to have been betrayed by the government, by the press (who keep bringing up his supposed past as a grifter), and his family, which he never goes into detail on. Balance suspects a connection between Synapse and Nightingale, but has never acted on it.
